Katsina NUT Urges Government to Review Teachers’ Posting Amid Insecurity

The Chairperson of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Katsina State Chapter, Hajiya Rakiya Shehu Runka, has called on the government to reconsider the posting of teachers to communities battling insecurity.

Runka emphasized the need for authorities to review the deployment process to ensure teachers are not exposed to life-threatening risks in areas affected by banditry and other security challenges.

She further stressed the importance of providing permanent housing for teachers, noting that decent accommodation would not only boost their morale but also enhance the overall quality of education across the state.

The NUT Chairperson made the appeal during a special prayer session for peace in Katsina, organized by the union’s state headquarters. The event, held on Monday, September 8, 2025, brought together leaders of the union from all 34 local government areas of the state.

Runka also commended teachers for their dedication to duty despite persistent security challenges, assuring them of the union’s commitment to safeguarding their welfare and strengthening the education system in Katsina.

The union reaffirmed its resolve to remain united in protecting the interests of teachers and ensuring improved standards of education across the state.
